QUANDO CHENIN BLANC 2008

THE VINEYARD AND SOIL

The Chenin blanc is a gnarly 30 year old vineyard rooted in deep rich Red well drained Karoo/ Hutting soils. It was planted by our father, Irene Martin Bruwer and the vines still remember being ploughed by our prized clydesdale horses – a practice taken over by tractors these days.

The production is just 4 to 5 bunches from a few shoots every year from it’s thick base, resulting to about 2000 liters per hectare. The vines are Flood irrigated three times during the growing season only.
